BASIC PHOTO / FLATWORK SCANNING COSTS
Basic scanning includes auto color/contrast adjustment and auto sharpening. It will include an auto dust and scratch removal if scanned at 4800 ppi*. Scans will be the same size as the original photo except for slides, which will be scanned to make a print approximately 4x6 inches. Basic scanning does NOT INCLUDE any digital restoration work or cleanup beyond what is listed above.

BASIC SLIDE SCANNING COSTS
Scanned images will be saved as high quality TIFF images. Ask if you want them in some other format. They can usually be emailed or uploaded to DropBox or a similar cloud storage area (free), or written to CD/DVD/Flash drive, etc. and mailed to you. Call or email about costs for these options.
* The automatic dust and scratch removal process blurs the image slightly (to make these flaws less obvious). It is not a substitute for high quality digital photo restoration where these flaws are individually removed at the pixel level if necessary.
DIGITAL PHOTO RESTORATION COSTS
Color, contrast and sharpening adjustments made individually for each photo or slide as it is scanned, or extensive digital cleaning up, retouching, image manipulation and/or custom cropping of scanned images fall under the digital photo restoration category.
Digital photo restoration is $30 per hour, charged in quarter-hour increments.
The descriptions below will give you a basic idea of the cost to restore an image.
The Basic Restoration: $15 - $30 per image
Images that fall in this category are in reasonably good shape. They have few discolorations and scratches, very minor cracks/tears which are NOT across facial features, and need only minor contrast or color adjustment.
See the Before & After Examples page for images in this category or download the FAQS file below.
Moderate Restoration: $31 - $90 per image
Images in this category have numerous dark spots, water marks, rips, deeper cracks and/or scratches, or have serious color fading, heat damaged color, etc. Also in this category would be photos that need to have a background removed or blurred to simplify it, image colorization, or a faux mat added to an odd size photo.
See the Before & After Examples page for images in this category or download the FAQS file below.
Major Restoration: $91 and up per image
In this category, images have major discoloration, serious water damage, large sections missing, numerous or large cracks, tears and scratches, or damage across facial features. It also includes photos where people, animals or objects need to be added or removed, where a background needs to be changed, where two or more photos need to be combined, or extensive colorization of a black and white image is desired.
