INKJET PRINTING SERVICES FROM FOUNTAIN STUDIO
Fountain Studio offers small format printing of photos and art work on a variety of archival or acid-free papers. Sheet sizes up to 17x22 inches, and landscape sheets up to 13 x 38 inches. Full bleed sheet printing is available in sizes from 4x6 inches to 16x20 inches. Prints are made on the Epson SureColor P900, using UltraChrome PRO10 pigment ink. These inks have been tested by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. in Iowa, and depending on the paper used, prints displayed framed under glass or sheet acrylic have a life expectancy before noticeable fading or color changes occur of between 61 years and 166 years. Adding UV filtering glazing increases the longevity of the prints two-fold or longer. Generally, gloss or semi-gloss paper has a shorter life expectancy than matte paper.
If you've heard or seen the term "giclée" and wondered what that is, it's simply a term for professionally printed high-quality inkjet prints. Giclée is a French word loosely meaning sprayed. It has become the accepted term for the type of print being produced on state-of-the-art inkjet printers, which create the image by depositing millions of infinitesimally small droplets of ink on a substrate of paper, canvas, film, etc. The resulting print is nearly continuous in tone, with individual droplets of ink only barely visible even with a magnifying glass. The best giclée prints are being printed using lightfast pigment inks (rather than the non-lightfast dye-based ones used in inexpensive desktop inkjet printers). They are also printed on archival substrates, and are generally given an additional "print-seal" coating to help protect them from dust and moisture. Like any other work on paper, giclée prints should be framed under glass or sheet acrylic using archival mats and backing boards, and should not be hung where they will be exposed to strong light or direct sunlight. Your framer can also use UV (ultra-violet) filtering glass or sheet plastic to provide additional protection. Prints may also be "sealed" with an archival, UV clear acrylic spray so they can be framed without glazing.
Reputable giclée printmakers are continually subjecting specific substrate/ink combinations to rigorous tests for longevity by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. and other indepent testing laboratories. The printers I use, with the specific ink/paper combination I use, guarantees you a print that will last approximately 80-120 years (depending on substrate), assuming archival framing, and optimal display conditions.
If you are an artist and need high-quality archival reproductions of your watercolors, drawings or other works on paper, please contact me. I can also print your images on card stock if you sell note cards. And of course, I can also print photos, old or new, on good quality archival paper that will last much longer than common photographic papers. See the Pricing & FAQS page for photo prices.

Giclée / Inkjet Printing Prices
There is no file setup fee or charge for photographing/scanning your art work. Those costs are included in the first print prices below. Additional prints of the same image are priced at a substantial discount. Cost is figured on a price per square inch, and is determined by the image size, not the paper size, of your print. Prints include a minimum one-half inch white border unless you have requested no border.
