ADDING COLOR TO BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOS

You don't have to stick with a black and white photo even if that's the only one you have. This client sent me a black and white photo with the request to "make it color". They also provided information about what clothing colors, hair and eye color. With that information, I was able to clean up the black and white image (it had a large ripped off area in the lower right corner), and colorize it.

You can also add color to just parts of a black and white image for the purpose of emphasizing that person or object. After my mother passed away, I made a collage of images of her from her baby pictures up until the year before she died, and in each image, she was the only person in full color.
