ADD EDGE TREATMENTS TO PHOTOS

Many photos are not standard photo frame sizes. Old photos, or those that have been cropped often fall into this category, but it is an easily addressed issue. One option is to digitally expand the photo edges to bring it to the desired size and proportion, but that's fairly labor intensive and costly. Another simpler option is to add a digital frame or border to the image. The border and/or faux mat or frame options are unlimited and range from simple to complex. Here are a few examples:

Here, I created a faux triple mat around the image,
including a slightly textured top mat

Borrowing some of the flowers from the image, I simplified
them into a pattern to create the border

This border looks as if the image has been exposed
by scratching away an overlying opaque surface

This border picks up the color from the photo, and
reinforces her love of flowers
